The addition of a jump rope workout into your routine at least three times a week can mean lasting changes to your metabolism.

Here’s how it works:

First, let’s clarify what metabolism is — its the process by which the body converts food into energy. Of course its not just one process — its many processes and its affected by many bodily functions — but its safe to say that every moment of every day, your body is converting nutrients to energy.  Sign up for our free report to learn how to BOOST your metabolism!

One important part of the metabolic process is to take a calorie and break it down to be used as energy. This energy could be used for exercise, or reading, or even sleeping. Everything you do requires energy. So everything needs calories.

The problem comes when there are more calories than Read the rest of this entry »

A Word about the “rope-less” Jump Rope Workout

Posted on Dec 04, 2010

Thinking about getting that special someone a Christmas gift??

Whenever I talk to people about how I stay in shape I hear, “Well, you can jump rope because you’re coordinated and fit.  But there’s no way I can keep the rope going long enough to get a good workout!”

To that I say “rubbish!”

Fitness gurus understand that not all people can keep a rope going, nor can they enjoy high-impact jumping — which by the way helps build strong bones!  So some smart cookies invented the rope-less jump rope.

This Santa Belly can be Gone by Christmas!

So lets just take a look at each type of exercise, see how it benefits you and how you can integrate it into your routine.

Aerobic Exercise – I think everyone know about aerobic exercise — it has to do with oxygen and plenty of it. Most aerobic exercises are done at about 60% to 80% of your maximum heart rate.  If you don’t know your maximum heart rate you can find out here.

Typically, aerobic exercises get your heart rate up to your goal, then keep it there for 20 to 30 minutes before going into a cool down routine. Exercises such as jogging, swimming, biking and rowing are good aerobic exercises.

Does Michelle Obama Employ a Jump Rope Workout to Get Shapely Shoulders?

Posted on Sep 18, 2010
jump_rope_workout_michelleHave you ever wondered how Michelle Obama got such shapely shoulders? It could have been by employing a jump rope workout in her fitness routine!  Because jumping rope burns fat fast, it also contributes to getting a lean fit body.  Most people would imagine that jumping rope will tone mostly thighs, caves, hamstrings and buttocks — and they would be right! But jumping rope also works all three deltoids muscles– the anterior, lateral, posterior – which are the basis for having shapely shoulders and toned arms.
The swinging motion of the rope is intensely felt in the shoulders after just two to three minutes into your workout.  You’ll begin to feel the heat in your shoulders — if you keep focused on that muscle group.
Naturally, the burn that is equated with a great workout is Read the rest of this entry »

How to use your jump rope workout to get rid of stuborn fat

Posted on Aug 11, 2010

Jumping rope may not seem like a stealth fat fighter, but think again.  You can get a blast of fat-burning energy from a simple jump rope workout.  By just following some very simple steps you will be amazed at how fast fat melts away.

1.  Get a good rope that fits your size.  When you step on it with both feet in the center, the handles should come to your armpits.  If it is too long, adjust it.  If it is too short, you’ll likely get tangled in it — opt for a new rope.Jump_Rope_Girl

2. Find a shock-absorbent surface on which to jump– it can either be indoors or out, but avoid jumping on concrete if possible, as you’ll likely get leg pains.

3. Have a good sturdy pair of shoes — cross-trainers are best as they cushion your feet better than running shoes.

4.  Have access to a watch with a second hand or better yet a timer so you can time your intervals.

5.  It might help to have a DVD to follow along with, but if not, have some snappy music to jump to.

6.  If at first, you find it difficult to jump in time to the music or sustain your jumping for extended periods of time, just practice without the jump rope for a bit. Then get back into the rope and in no time Read the rest of this entry »

Jump Rope Workout — Getting Started

Posted on Aug 10, 2009
Jump Rope Workout Fun!

Jump Rope Workout Fun!

I think just about everyone agrees, jumping rope is an awesome cardiovascular workout.  In addition, it will improve hand-eye coordination, speed, stamina, endurance and yes — it will definitely burn off that last belly fat.  With so many advantages, why don’t more people incorporate a jump rope workout into their routine?  Well I think there are two reasons:  First, because people think its boring and overly repetitious. And second, because many people think its too difficult.

Its a game many of us played when we were younger.  Then it was never boring because we were usually with our friends and we’d just make it fun!  Plus it didn’t matter when we “missed” — we’d just start over.  But of course now we’re embarrassed to get tangled up and lose the rhythm — plus its frustrating.  Couple that with the repetition that can be mind-numbing if you don’t have a plan and it can be a turn-off.
But lets get back to the reason we want to think about a jump rope workout in the first place.  We want to Read the rest of this entry »
