Here it is only mid October and I’m already thinking about Christmas, but you know it is just around the corner! In fact as I write this article it is only 70 days away! Many of us are just now getting ready for Halloween, then we’ll start thinking of Thanksgiving, then Christmas. That is the point! There are lots of high-fat, load-calorie holidays between now and Christmas.

If you start right now, with only 10 to 15 minutes, for to five times a week — you can be FIT BY CHRISTMAS! In fact, if you start now, you’ll see amazing results even before Thanksgiving!

Experts agree that the very best way to get lean is through high intensity, interval training — or HIIT.  Jumping rope is such a great way to work HIIT into any exercise regimen — its fun and easy to do. The high intensity part of HIIT involves really working as hard as you can for a very short period of time — as little as 30 seconds as much as only 90 seconds. These are bursts of speed and intensity.

The interval training means you have a high intensity interval followed by a lower intensity interval – you never completely stop, but you slow down to let your heart rate recover, then you go back to you highly intense workout!

Studies prove that short spurts of high intensity, followed by recovery intervals can amp up your routine to burn calories faster than any other single method. You will be absolutely amazed with these results.

So what do you do if you haven’t completely mastered the rope to get your intervals as intense as you need them to be? There are a couple of methods people use. First you can take the handles of the rope into one hand and swing the rope super fast while jumping – you’re not actually jumping rope at this point — you are acting “as if” you’re jumping. Then during the slower interval — actually jump rope at a slower rate. This will accomplish two things: 1.) You’ll be able to perform the recovery interval — again only 30 to 60 seconds and 2.) You’ll begin to get better and better at actually jumping rope.

The second method you could use, it to try the ropeless jump rope. It really is great for HIIT because you never miss! And the on board computer that comes with many models helps you to keep track of your stats.

Either way, if you start right now, you will be fit and lean by Christmas — you’ll be so far ahead of everyone else who promise to lose weight and get fit in 2010!
